The Titanic remains one of the most famous shipwrecks in maritime history. This majestic liner, reputedly unsinkable, struck an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean on April 14, 1912 during its maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. Sadly, the tragedy claimed the lives of more than 1,500 of the 2,224 people on board. In 1988 I created a large format watercolor 40x80 cm that pays tribute to the grandeur and tragedy of the Titanic. My painting surely captures the essence of this iconic story and pays tribute to the lives lost in this maritime disaster. This painting went to a private collector in Japan in 1994. Print on 300 gr vellum paper.
