Description
Cordouan Lighthouse, often called the "Versailles of the Seas," is one of the oldest operating lighthouses in France, located at the mouth of the Gironde Estuary. Cordouan Lighthouse stands proudly on a rocky islet. The majestic structure, built of white stone, rises elegantly against the horizon. Its circular base is surrounded by thick walls, topped by a slender tower that rises approximately 68 meters in height. The lighthouse is richly decorated with cornices, balustrades, and sculptures, reminiscent of the architecture of royal palaces. At dusk, the light from the lighthouse begins to sweep across the Atlantic Ocean, its beam reflecting off the shimmering waves. The sky, tinged with shades of deep blue and orange, creates a striking contrast to the silhouette of the lighthouse.
