Description
This work presents “the baobab” as a metaphor for man, embodying both anchoring, growth and perseverance. The shapes of the tree evoke a human face, symbolizing its vital importance, notably through its capacity to store water, represented by the open mouth of this face. The black and white contrast highlights the duality between the power and fragility of this tree-being, and the white space accentuates its majesty in the face of aridity. The baobab, a source of many benefits (water, fruits, fibers), is also a figure of wisdom and resilience in several cultures. The artist explores these themes through a line art approach, breaking down the shapes in a contemporary way to reveal the beauty and symbolism of the tree.
