Description
The watercolor painting "Together on the Horizon" captures an idyllic western-style scene in which a man casually lounges on a hillside next to his trusty horse. The sky is painted in bright blues with fluffy white clouds, creating a late summer atmosphere that exudes calm and spaciousness. The hillside is dotted with pasture grasses that gently blow across the painting in the wind from the right, conveying dynamic movement. Majestic mountains rise in the background, adding a dramatic backdrop to the scene and enhancing the feeling of the vastness of the prairie. The horse kindly lowers its head toward the seated rider in a pose of affection, emphasizing the deep bond and mutual understanding between the two. The colors and flowing style of the watercolor emphasize the peaceful and relaxed atmosphere that exists between the man, his horse, and the surrounding nature.

Horst Ludwig, born in 1946, - nominated for the Artist OF EUROPE AWARD 2024 in Florence -  is a renowned artist with many years of experience and great expertise in the field of painting. Since his childhood, animals, especially horses, have accompanied him as loyal companions. In his youth, Horst Ludwig spent a lot of time in the old churches and cathedrals of the former GDR, where he often supported painters and picture restorers. In the community of freelance painters, he learned various painting techniques, and his talent was recognized and encouraged early on. This time had a lasting impact on his passion for painting.

Horst Ludwig is the proud father of two daughters. After 57 happy years of marriage, he lost the love of his life in February 2023. Despite this loss, the shared love of Arabian thoroughbreds and their breeding continues to shape everyday life on the family estate near Stralsund on the island of Rügen, where he lives and works as a free spirit and artist. His studio, affectionately called "Kleckshäuschen", is called "al Kuhl," derived from the Arabic word "al-kuhl," which for him symbolizes the beauty, elegance and grace of Arabian horses as well as the trust and deep bond between humans and animals.

Horst Ludwig's passion for horses and life in all its facets is impressively reflected in his works. The painter exhibits regularly and his studio is open to visitors, who are always welcome.
