Description
The watercolor painting "Dance in the Autumn Wind" captures a lively and dynamic scene: horses gallop down a gentle slope, their manes and tails in the wind. They seem to be one with the movement of nature. Above the horses, cranes rise into flight, their outstretched wings playing in the wind. The birds seem to be in perfect harmony with the galloping horses, as if both are moving in a common dance. The sky is in shades of gray and white, heavy and cloudy, which underlines the melancholy mood of autumn. The wind, sweeping from right to left through the painting, is quickly palpable - it makes the grass tilt and enhances the feeling of movement and freedom in the scene. The color palette of the painting, dominated by earth tones and muted shades of gray, gives the scene a calm atmosphere.

Horst Ludwig, born in 1946, - nominated for the Artist OF EUROPE AWARD 2024 in Florence -  is a renowned artist with many years of experience and great expertise in the field of painting. Since his childhood, animals, especially horses, have accompanied him as loyal companions. In his youth, Horst Ludwig spent a lot of time in the old churches and cathedrals of the former GDR, where he often supported painters and picture restorers. In the community of freelance painters, he learned various painting techniques, and his talent was recognized and encouraged early on. This time had a lasting impact on his passion for painting.

Horst Ludwig is the proud father of two daughters. After 57 happy years of marriage, he lost the love of his life in February 2023. Despite this loss, the shared love of Arabian thoroughbreds and their breeding continues to shape everyday life on the family estate near Stralsund on the island of Rügen, where he lives and works as a free spirit and artist. His studio, affectionately called "Kleckshäuschen", is called "al Kuhl," derived from the Arabic word "al-kuhl," which for him symbolizes the beauty, elegance and grace of Arabian horses as well as the trust and deep bond between humans and animals.

Horst Ludwig's passion for horses and life in all its facets is impressively reflected in his works. The painter exhibits regularly and his studio is open to visitors, who are always welcome.
