MY FIRST SCULPTURE
CREATION OF MY FIRST MONUMENTAL WORK
The Starting Theme For The Creation Of This Work Was: The Representation Of The Breton Territory I Wanted First Of All To Pay Homage To “ With Blue Faces » These Men, The Slate Workers Who Worked In The Slate Quarries In Brittany Throughout Their Lives. The Site For Carrying Out This Work Is The Carrière Du Licsuis In The Côtes D’Armor, A Magnificent Deserted Place. Man For 3 Years But Inhabited By The Owner's Goats. The Trigger For The Creation Of This Sculpture Is A Strong Breton And Celtic Symbol Among All Generations Combined: The Triskell. These 3 Branches Represent The 3 Fundamental Elements: Earth, Water And Fire Are Visible In This Work. “ Slate Is Extracted From The Earth, With Fire The Extraction Of Iron Will Appear, Hence The Iron. The Metal Frame And The Water Will Spring From These 3 Branches
MY DIFFERENT WELDING METHODS
I Mainly Use Surface Welding. Flame And Welding Electric Arc Welding The Flame It Results From The Combustion Of A Judicious Mixture Of Acetyne And Oxygen, Part Of Which Is Used In The Flame. In The Ambient Air. Adjusting The Torch For A Perfect Flame At The Outlet (mixture Of The 2 Gases) Is Obtained Gradually By Opening The Acetylene And Oxygen Taps Until The Flame Is Reached. Obtain A Good Flow Rate At The Nozzle Orifice Arc If Two Bare, Live Conductors Touch, There Is A Short Circuit. If We Move These Two Conductors Apart, A Spark Is Produced, This Is An ELECTRIC ARC. What Is Bad And Dangerous For An Electrical Installation Can Be Controlled And Maintained Thanks To A Transformer Is The WELDING STATION. The Arc Thus Obtained Is Used As A Source Of Heat Necessary For The Fusion Of The Parts. This Work Is Mounted On A 1.5 Meter Metal Tripod. Thanks To The Hangar Upgraded To At My Disposal By The Owner Of These Places, I Used An Electric Hoist To Position The Metal Feet And Weld Them To The Right Place. The Arc. The Whole Thing Already Weighs A Lot. Just Over 300 Kg
The Raw Material : IRON Very Ductile And Very Malleable, But At The Same Time Very Resistant, It Is The Common Metal Par Excellence, Known To Men Since Ancient Times. It Is Found In Nature At The State Of Oxides (magnet, Oligist Iron, Red Hematite Etc...) Of Carbonates Or Sulphides. The Ores Are First Treated In Blast Furnaces And The Cast Iron Thus Obtained, Freed Of Its Excess Carbon And Its Impurities, Is Transformed Into IRON.
It Is A White, Grayish, Grainy Metal. It Melts Away 1535 ° (before Melting, It Softens And Can Be Worked With A Hammer And Welded To Itself), It Boils At Once. 3,000°C. Iron Is Very Prone To Damage. Oxidize By Covering Itself With A Layer Of Rust, This Defect Is Avoided By Covering It Either With An Insulating Layer Of Paint Or Varnish Or With A Stainless Metal Such As Tin (iron -white) Zinc (iron To Remove The Metal Frame, The Owner Used A Tractor With A Lifting Arm. The Opening Of The Shed Being 4.50 Meters, The Branch Of The High Has Passed By Touching The Sheet Metal. It Would Have Been Difficult To Make It Larger!! The Work Is Definitely In Place For Its Slate Cladding. The Watering Plate Is First Installed And Fixed On The Metal Frame. I First Identified The Large Format Slates That I Wanted To Use After Taking The Final Dimension. , I Cut Out 18 Pieces. I Tackled The Small Format, The Choice Of Slates And The Cut Corresponds To The Size. 3 Good Days Of Work. I Cut Out 12 M3 Of Slates In Superb Tones Of Blue/mordoré Thanks To A Machine Straight From The Owner’s Imagination. To Maintain All The Slates, I Made One. In South Africa Special Hooks. I Used Approximately 7kilos Of Washers, Nuts And Hooks For The Entire Monumental Sculpture. All Cuts Have Been Made. Made With A Diamond Blade. I Understand The Term « The Blue Faces », àgrave; At The End Of The Day, My Face And Hands Were The Color Of Slate. My Hair Was Covered With A Gray Powder: The Clay Working On It Open Skies In Brittany Is Not An Obvious Thing. !! It Will Take A Lot Of Imagination For Me To Install All These Slates. The Creation Of An Agricultural Platform For Transport Was A Major Task. Carefully Considered. Above All, You Must Think About Security For Road Travel, Request Traffic Permits. The Convoy Was Escorted By Two Vehicles, One At A Time. At The Front And Another At The Front. At The Rear, Equipped With Rotating Beacon.
The Final Exhibition Location Was At 20 Kilometers From The Place Of Manufacturing “ DEEP EMERGENCE »
WAS INAUGURATED ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2009
- It Measures 3.90 Meters In Height

- Its Weight Is Approximately 2,500 Kg
- Number Of Working Hours: 377
- Number Of Working Days: 56
FELT AFTER THIS MONUMENTAL CREATION
The Experience Was Great. Rich In Twists And Turns, I Learned The Work And Especially The Cutting Of Slates, I Had To Think About The Solidity Of The Slates. Of Such A Creation, I Sought Help From Professional Advice, It Is Essential For The Security Of The Project. Of Each One. It Is Above All A Real Challenge, Pushing One's Own Limits, The Creation Of A Monumental Work Requires A Lot Of Rigor.
I Was Able To Do It And I Would Do It Again!!!!!!!!!!
