LEYKA ART
I am a young painter and tattoo artist, I also have a tattoo stand where I exhibit my works as well as clothes that I customize myself during various events such as music festivals.
It all started in 2017, when I started as an after-school activity leader, where, with the children, I discovered the passion for art and drawing. Indeed, it was the children who gave me the confidence against this fear of failing in the face of this world of art that was for me until then so utopian, so unattainable. My drawings were at that time on paper and in Dotwork technique (dot by dot technique).
In 2019, I met a tattoo artist who then trained me, (in May 2020) for two months, in the complete history of tattooing and who made me discover the art of Handpoking, an ancestral technique carried out with only a needle and by hand without a machine. This technique has become my specialty today and joins my passion for Dotwork.
I consider myself a multi-media artist; writing, tattoos, paintings on canvas, on clothing and many other media such as skateboards, murals and other crazy objects. My first professional canvas painting was done in January 2020, the beginning of a long passion. Indeed, today I have 88 paintings to my credit, more than 50 of which are already in the hands of wonderful people who have been touched by my art and who have adopted one of my paintings.
Having not studied art and being self-taught in painting. I would describe my art as figurative and expressive. I draw inspiration from the world of Buddhism using symbols of sacred geometry, as well as from the culture of cartoons which are for me happy symbols of my childhood side.
To dive into my world, you have to accept feeling a desire to share, love and joy. Painting is for me an outlet, a passion, it allows me to survive in a world that is hard and cold but also beautiful and gentle. I would therefore like to convey through my paintings a message of peace, love and serenity through sacred symbols and the comfort of childhood memories.
I also have a dark side, with my "trash" paintings, which show my dark side, my repressed pain, my pains that are difficult to express other than with a canvas.
My work is sometimes very meticulous, geometry being an art of perfection, some of my paintings have more than 300 hours of work. I also make works on commission and adapt to the client's request and budget, for me art must remain accessible to all.
The more I evolve in my art, the more my desire is to create works that engage in the future. To be an artist? Yes! But why? To transmit a message to the world and help others.
Leyka
I would like to be able, through my art, to transmit messages. Having started in the world of art with writing, then with a little music to continue on this beautiful writing and to chain today with painting, I realize that I would like thanks to all the supports to which I can have access (whether it is a sheet, a canvas, skin, an object), to be able to express everything that happens deep in my subconscious. Often I draw my painting with a semi-idea, which develops as the creative process progresses. And it is once the painting is finished and sometimes a few days later that I understand why I made this painting at this moment in my life .. everything is connected and everything is wearable! You just have to try it!
