Aline Khieu is a French artist of Cambodian origin, born in 1989. She was born in a reception center for migrants in the Jura, shortly after her arrival. and his parents in France.
Vis-à-vis his own drawings, his own personality; – because it is the same thing, the two in it merge, she says – Aline likes to talk about “luminous darkness”.

She says: “It’s a black that shines”. A darkness that sometimes brings sadness, and sometimes joy. His hand is guided by an instinct, a transgenerational impulse which allows him to create without knowing how to create. You can tell in advance what the sheet will reveal. When it creates, consciousness fades away, it is only emotion.

Despite controversy and repression in her family circle, Aline's artistic gift flourished. and shaped his unique style. His art integrates elements of his Cambodian heritage, sometimes evoking the tumultuous waters of the Mekong or memories of war-torn Indochina. But his creations also reflect the enchantment of alleys scented with jasmine, the fascination of Parisian nights and the serenity of the city. Norman landscapes.

Aline rarely uses color, preferring all the shades of shadow. She is like a prism that has fun playing with itself. difract an infinity; of shades ranging from white to black, visiting all the shades in between. Aline Khieu is an artist visceral, voracious, and polymorphic creation. His artistic expression goes beyond drawing and sculpture, also encompassing photography, music and writing. My art is a dedication to the exploration of complexity of the human spirit, enveloped in in poetry, I am leaving to explore the world of poetry. the search for its dark and light aspects. The choice of this medium goes hand in hand with its indelibility. Leaving a touch of eternity on paper, as if to say that each trace is like, each stain, a scar.

My drawings come to life directly on the sheet, avoiding any pre-established model, in order to preserve the sincerity of the drawings. and the authentic atmosphere of each work. The lines I draw are fine, bold and sometimes rough, reflecting the guilt of the artist. and innocence that coexist within us. The imperfections visible in my art serve as a metaphor for the mistakes we make in life. They are welcomed and accepted, thus becoming an integral part of the balance of the soul and offering therapeutic liberation.
