Discover the contemporary work of Antoine Lopez

Discovering the Louvre Museum as a teenager, I entered an artistic world that would stay with me throughout my life, through good times and bad. Drawing is a daily activity and becomes a gateway to painting. As a self-taught artist, I have been painting in oils for 30 years, with classes in a professional artist's studio to deepen my understanding of different techniques. Until I found my own path.
The chosen themes are encounters or subjects that touch me, often deeply human. Encounters bring me visions of portraits, my travels bring me contacts with foreign cultures, but also themes of human dramas such as immigration, injustice, death, the environment, and love. Preparatory drawings can last months, while the execution with a brush or a knife is often rapid and spontaneous.
