Arnaud "APPIX" Piat is a self-taught photographer. He became familiar with photography at a young age, reaching a certain maturity around the age of 18. Long left unexplored, he now wishes to introduce his art to the general public.
Over the years, he has been able to gather a range of photographs by theme (black and white wedding photos, sports, travel). It is mainly through his loved ones that he has developed his art. No longer confined by the constraints of figuration, he is moving more towards abstraction. He enjoys working with glass surfaces, which allow him to create surprising effects, and with irregular wall surfaces. He photographs both street scenes and purely geometric scenes, thus varying his output.
A city photographer at heart, he has captivated with his precise and imaginative eye for the beauty of street scenes. Determined to "stop this fleeting time," he is more of a "fisherman of images" than a "seer of images." A "hunter of images," his reputation is essentially based on his light gaze on city streets, which he knows how to depict with incredible sensitivity without computer retouching.
"My work evolves through entropy, through a gradual loss of control. Let's say that I leave more and more room for chance, intuition, and accident. I am gradually replacing theoretical experience with practice, lived experience."
Arnaud "Appix" Piat uses both film and digital techniques. He has no preference for any format; he prefers to let himself be guided by his inner self. Independent, he is nonetheless influenced by the work of Sebastiao Salgado, Cartier-Bresson, and David Muench.
