Discover the contemporary work of Bartlet-Drouzy
As much as she has always loved painting, she paints. Nudes, still lifes, landscapes, portraits, figurative in the manner of Hopper according to one of her masters: Michel Suret-Canale! No initial training in a school of Fine Arts, having followed different training courses with a professional painter Mr. R. Lelaizant, between 1986 and 1990, then in a nude drawing workshop and in a School of Plastic Arts, she continues in continuous training within an association Mimesis which aims to be a melting pot of research and experimentation without competition or precept. In her studio, she creates realistic paintings inspired by real-life or completely imaginary events. New encounters have opened other windows for her: that of Sylvia Trouvé who takes her into original and bucolic "Route to Croquer" and to her "Atelier du Trait" where she continues her training in drawing as one trains for one's favorite sport, that of a whole group of pastel artists from Niort who introduced her, through her courses, with Régine Bertin-Brisson to the technique of dry pastel and more recently with Paul Billard, a renowned pastel artist. Artists such as Slimane Ould Mohand, Pierre Auzanneau, Frédéric Mercier have opened their studios to her and many others (Zarco) whose attendance stimulates the imagination... Marie-Hélène D'Autreppe has for some time been a generous initiator who, in the Mimesis workshops, brings her skills as an artist-decorator. Vincent Rousseau was the initiator of animal pastel during an internship. Annual internships, with a renowned watercolorist: Michèle Billion, allow her to develop know-how in this very difficult field of in situ watercolor! A new experience this summer 2019, with a renowned master pastellist: Jean-Claude Baumier gives him a boost in the field of dry pastel treated in-situ in natural landscapes.
2021-2022 resumption of new exploration with a painter expert in knife painting: Nathalie Sabourin.
More work in a private workshop with an oil-painted canvas of the Mont Blanc range.
2024 A new experiment with a 4-day sculpture course, supervised by Eric Vanel, a sculptor recognized in the world of sculpture,
A very rich and formative experience thanks to Eric's great pedagogy!
I feel drawn to naturalism and impressionist painters, but I also nourish my creations with the great classics: genre scenes and work on light: Bruegel the Elder, Caravaggio, Artemisias Gentileschi, La Tour, Le Nain, Poussin, Rembrandt, Velazquez, Vermeer, Van Eyck...
The study of the human body with the living model, the observation of the elements of nature: fauna or flora, landscapes, but also classical or modern architecture, the search for places to work on the motif, still lifes... No determinism. Let yourself be carried away by the chosen technique: watercolor or oil painting. oil, pencil drawing, charcoal, ink or pastels. Paper and canvas are my main supports.
But I also train on mediums covered with malleable materials: glue, cement, lino for creations with mosaics or engraving.
The colored pigments of the paints used are the best assets of my expressiveness. But a well-done drawing in pencil or charcoal delights me just as much. I am not looking for performance, only the balance between the pattern and the color of each creation and the pleasure I get from it matter to me.
The contemporaries that I discover over the years nourish my imagination: Hopper, Soulages, Garouste, ... and Michel Suret-Canale who allowed me to free my prejudices by practicing the letting go of line and color!
