Artistic approach

Using digital as a creative medium, I have developed my own pictorial language that is expressed through a vocabulary borrowed from the world of graphic design and draws its inspiration from the image.

A graphic designer by training, a photographer and author, I attach great importance to framing, seeking in the image to create emotion through detail.

It was by diving into the extremely rigorous graphic universe of security design that I built the bases of my pictorial language, diverting the graphic codes of this almost scientific writing to make it a personal creation tool.

I do not reproduce anything, I invent or interpret.

Through my screen, I sculpt graphic matter, image dust. I explore the combination of elementary graphic particles taken from photography, which constitute the substrate of my compositions and which I use as macroscopic pigments, experimenting with molecular painting. I deconstruct the gray levels of the image using using lines, geometric patterns, frames or micro-structures to build my universe. All these graphic elements with improbable shapes contribute to creating the illusion by bringing nuances and contrasts to my compositions in the manner of the brushstrokes of the impressionists.

I don't know where I'm going. I move forward, methodically testing the interactions of shapes and colors, until the outline of a world emerges before me and catches my attention. I then let myself be guided. Taming the unexpected, provoking the unexpected, I am condemned to progress because going back is limited, almost impossible. The balance is often unstable. It happens that the work escapes me through an excess of curiosity.

Map of imaginary worlds, views from the sky, dives into organic matter through a microscope; my creations are nourished by these incredible images that must be sought and sometimes require an effort of observation, of these images that transport us from the depths of the universe to inside the matter, which destabilize us by the lack of reference points and the excessiveness of the size ratios, these images which make us want to go and see ever further.

Replacing the optical instrument with the distance to the work, I create works which offer several levels of reading, going against the common representation of the two-dimensional image which requires an observation distance proportional to the size of the image. But this comfortable distance between the eye and the work is elusive. My creations are like a trap that exerts an uncontrollable attraction. From the first glance, doubt sets in between what we perceive and what we think we see. The desire to get closer to understand what we see is irresistible, destabilizes us, carries us away.

My work is an invitation to travel into the depths of the printed image, to the discovery of these innumerable details that create perception.

Each work is like a snapshot captured in this progression towards the infinitely small where we discover the importance of these tiny, almost invisible elements that we believe to be insignificant, negligible and which nevertheless all have their importance in the very existence of the composition.

Our perception changes according to our point of view, according to what we want to see or what we think we see.
