Discover the contemporary work of Brigitte Dravet
Originally from the south of France whereù I still live and work today, I define myself as an artist by birth. Following in the footsteps of my architect father, I spent time my childhood draw, color, glue, trace, paint. I found in manual activities a refuge and a way to express myself.
I have always dreamed of to be an artist
Deep down I always wanted to be an artist and creation imposed itself on me. Me. After a transition to At the Plastic Art School of Nice, I launched into the creation of painted decorations, into photography then later into painted portraits, decorative objects and finally abstract painting. I like to define myself as a free artist, whose work is rather intuitive and eclectic, who follows her inspirations and desires.
The important thing is to do what we like
10 years ago, after several therapist training courses, I launched into sophrology at the same time. This allowed me personally to understand myself better by freeing myself from blockages and also to respond to my needs. the desire to help others. Art and sophrology now respond and complement each other to encourage others to relax. open up to artistic expression and the emotion of creation. There is nothing more important than doing what pleases us and thrives in the present moment, in the heart of this life. what we were destined to do.
Today fully invested in my artistic career, I explore my emotions more than ever and probe those of the world to offer works that I hope are full of serenity, joy of living, of light.
Painting is letting my interiority, my soul express itself and feeling the beauty of nature. interior of things.
Deeply convinced that everything in this world carries beauty. and light and that this beauty is not always there where we are waiting for it, I invite everyone to join us. discover this light that shines around and in each of us. Now fully invested in my artistic journey, I explore my emotions more than ever and probe those of the world to offer works that I hope are full of serenity, joy of living and light ;re.
I divert, recycle, explore materials, supports and create with enthusiasm from morning to evening in my workshop perched on the hillside. on the roof of my house Toulon.
This is how flat areas of material, in colors spread with a knife, squeegees or other improvised tools, I breathe my creative energy into. my paintings so that they capture the viewer in their light and surprise with their textures.
My pleasure is to bring raw, mineral textures into dialogue with metallic colors, gold, copper,…
The golden and copper colors are a symbol of delicacy, light, and serenity, both lively and vibrant, they are reflected differently depending on the light and the location of the viewer so the painting can light up at any time. at any time and magically add new dimensions to your image. the room or the space in which it is located.
Continuing to; connect to my way my art àgrave; spirituality I remain convinced that sophrology, meditation, breathing and art come together, and allow one to relax. helps the mind to relax, to achieve calm, serenity, to develop concentration and attention of the mind and this allows me to create creativity. er an art that I want to be positive, subtle and contemplative, one that can create emotion, poetry, bring well-being and positive energy, in our hearts and in our lives.
Mannequins Upcycling art
My second passion, which is a bit of an extension of my work as a sophrologist, is to recover window or sewing mannequins, left behind. abandonment, to transform them, divert them and give them a second chance, a new life.
Symbols of a standardized and illusory worldview, models represent femininity. ideal and bodily perfection, they bring us back to our own human condition. Often victims of the ravages of time, they are ultimately abandoned, dismembered, fragmented, mutilated and faceless.
My mission: to make these mannequins or parts of mannequins beautiful and unique so that we can finally look at them, and differently.
Because we never see them as such for what they are, we only pay attention to what they are. what they show us: clothes, accessories... “
By collecting them from the time I contribute to my way to the well-being of the planet by integrating myself into a will of sustainable development, which saves natural resources and limits waste, but it's also a bit as if I were healing souls wounded by life, in exchange, they allow me to reconcile with myself and reclaim my own body.
Patina, rust, paint drips, gilding, gold leaf collages, jewelry, each mannequin is worked to perfection. like a canvas following my inspiration of the moment until later. become original decorative objects, lamps, paintings, or antique sculptures seeming to have been created. carved from stone or cast in stone. in bronze.
