Christian Tartarini_Biography

Drawing has always been a part of Tartarini's life.

At the age of 16 he spend his free time drawing plans and perspectives of imaginary buildings .
At the university, logically, he studies architecture and he receives his degrees in 1995.
-
In 2006, after a decade working as an architect in different parts of the world, Tartarini feels the needs for change. His life has become too stressful, too fast !

Barcelona is his destination. The place where he decides to dedicate himself to the art of painting. (In order to develop this choice, he studies pictorial techniques at « La Massana School of Art ».)
-
Inspired by the nature and influenced by his architect’s intuition, aesthetic canons and human values, he develops a style personal where he plays with our perception by using textures, light and time.

Tartarini likes to define his work as  urbanistic, multi-dimensional, time related, ecological, epidermal, imperfect, black, colourful !

During his Barcelona period, Christian collaborates with designers and fashion boutiques in various exhibitions and events.
-
In 2012, he leaves Barcelona as he accepts an architect position in Paris.
Intense years, by every meaning, await him during his Parisian period.
-
But Tartarini cannot settle down ; a trip to Amsterdam, an unexpected encounter and Tartarini is already moving to the Dutch capital.

It is at this moment that he starts in collaboration with the designer Michiel van Bijlevelt, a new project in the center of Amsterdam, a multi-disciplinary and open space where art, design, architecture, crafts are naturally murging.

Artistic approach

Since he paints, the idea has always been to create in the 3 dimensions (certainly to keep a connection with the architecture).

The material used are most of the time a mix of plaster, fibers, sand and acrylic.
The support are canvas, wood, fabric.

Black, dark brown, dark red are most of the time the colour choosen. Lively colours have also their place in the collection.

The result is materic and abstract,
Never the less the result can also be vegetal, animal, topographic, textured, under tension, on multiple scales, multi dimensional, detailed, tactile, changing, deep, light catcher, rythmic, balanced...but always connected in a way or another with mother nature.

It is a skin, a cityplan, an organism, a morphology,
