Clara Maïda is a composer (contemporary/experimental, instrumental and electronic music) and also works as a visual artist. She lives in Paris and Berlin.
She studied music and psychology. She has received numerous international awards and prizes in the field of contemporary musical composition, and has been the recipient of various scholarships and residencies in France and abroad.
Her music has been performed at festivals and broadcast on radio stations internationally.
Depending on the artistic projects, her works are solely musical (for instrumental ensemble, for instruments and electronics, or on electroacoustic media), or they combine electroacoustic music and image, presenting in the context of audiovisual installations paintings on canvas, real objects, manufactured and painted objects, as well as abstract animation videos.
More recently, she has also presented exclusively visual works (painting, ink, paper drawing and digital drawing, photography, mixed media, videos abstract animation).
She is a member of the Genius of the Bastille (Paris).

Her artistic approach is at the crossroads of scientific notions (nanosciences: genetics, microbiology, quantum physics) and concepts from the human sciences (psychoanalysis, Deleuzian philosophy).
In a perspective inspired by the bottom-up approach to nanosciences (manipulation of objects at the atomic scale) and proposing a kind of « genetics" perceptual, she named my music a "nanomusic" and her visual creations can be considered as "nanographic".
She seeks to open the field of sight (and listening), the possibility of a moving and plural perception that travels through several scales, from microstructure to macro-form, and traces hybrid sonic and visual territories that blur identities.
She likes to move the boundary lines between abstraction and the figurative, textural cartographies and objects, the human, animal or fantasy form, the organic and the machinic, sound and noise.
The act of visual creation can alternate between the extreme precision with which minimal units are arranged within complex networks and rapid and spontaneous gesturality. both a "nanoscopic" structural approach and an organicity, a logic of sensation (Deleuze). Variations in density, precariousness and flux, vibratory states and in constant becoming, proliferation, mutation and hybridity, entanglement of curves and mesh, sensation of a multiple and non-linear space-time, are the characteristics of Clara Maiïda's research.
