Biography - CLARA PRIETO RODRIGUEZ She was born in Madrid …. and from a young age she felt attracted to the arts in general, especially music and painting, making sporadic forays into these disciplines over time when she found the time and opportunity to do so. She combined her work life at IBM Spain with raising her three children, and with various trips and stays in other countries due to family work transfers. And in the few moments available she gave vent to these hobbies as opportunities arose. Working life: In a first period, she worked at IBM (International Business Machines), in the Translations Department, later creating the Library and Technical Documentation Department, until 1981 when she moved to live in Java, Indonesia, for 2 years. From 1983, she returned to IBM, in the Marketing Department, until 1996, when she moved permanently to Toulouse (France) for family reasons. During this period, she combined her position as a Spanish teacher at the Tournefeuille Town Hall (Toulouse) with painting, participating in various exhibitions; and music, participating in two choirs, with various concerts in the Toulouse-France region. Back in Madrid, she found the time to devote herself more intensely to her passion, painting, participating in various exhibitions in Spain and abroad. Her painting style, she herself comments: “…..as I have gone through many phases over all these years, it is as if we could say, a little eclectic….I have always been interested in abstract painting, and, for some reason that I do not know, or perhaps simply due to my own inability, I find it very difficult to get away from figurative painting. But I keep trying, and I am sure that, at some point, I will be able to paint like that.”
