Discover the contemporary work of Coeur de Chêne

Coming from a background in visual arts and digital art, my main interest has always been drawing (traditional and digital). I fully launched into wood pyrography in 2019, making this craft my main activity until today.

The heart of my craft is the work of ornamenting wooden objects using a pyrography iron.

 This is a drawing by burning intended to alter the color of the support and/or to hollow it out. Unlike laser engraving, which offers few possibilities in terms of depth, contrast or support shapes, I strive to use exclusively this simple and ancestral technique.

Manual pyrography brings additional value to creations, it combines know-how and authenticity because it allows me to implement my years of techniques and my training as an illustrator.

Wood is a noble and living material, which evolves over time and according to the climate. The creation will always be unique because it will present roughness, details and particularities that are specific to it.

This craft allows me to deal with subjects that are dear to me and specific to my "personal" universe, very often inspired by myths, nature or fantasy.
