I practise the trade of ceramist since 1989.I started ceramics by three/four sessions of formation to initiate myself with the various techniques of shaping, then I spent one year of work, alone, to create parts.My entry in a collective workshop of the Paris area, directed me towards the work of the enamelled sandstone. This period enabled me to acquire a good knowledge of ceramics: clays - the permanent search for enamels - cooking?s. In 1992, parallel to the sandstone, I started to try out cooking?s of the raku type. More still than the play behaviour side of this type of cooking, I liked the very specific matters which it allows.Since 1996, all my cooking?s are of type "raku" but with a temperature higher than the usual practices (between 1000°C et1150°C according to clay used - certain clays are indeed already very solid with 1000°C).As for my work with the sandstone, I continue to do many researches on the matter, the slips, the enamels, stages necessary for a freedom of artistic expression.I like to associate very soft matters such as polished and very rough porcelain slips - scraped ground - or strongly ?chamottées? clay addition etc. My creations are single parts, worked with the hand with the wad or the plate.I use 3 different clays.Certain parts require a very plastic ground, of other a ground which does not become deformed or dries quickly.But clays, for cooking raku, must resist to violent thermal shocks above all.As for the aesthetic aspect of clay, it will be transformed, if necessary, by the addition of slips (porcelain - coloured ?barbotines? etc.).
