From a very young age, Natalie Feldeisen-Occhipinti discovered drawing as a refuge, a means of escape for a lonely child with an overflowing imagination. This creative inclination transformed into a deep passion when, at the age of twelve, she encountered oil painting. This medium, with its infinite possibilities of mixing, its play on volume and its drying times, became Natalie's first artistic love.
After a professional career guided by reason, Natalie found her way back to creation when her children were born. This return triggered an irresistible creative impulse in her, fueled by intuitive memory and learning. She then began painting, but also jewelry creations and Raku sculptures, bringing childhood memories to life through playful and whimsical animal figures. This Japanese firing technique gives her sculptures a unique and unpredictable texture, accentuating the raw and authentic side of her creations. Her sculptures, which she describes as "odes to childhood", are imbued with tenderness and humor, mixing simplified forms and subtle details that capture the essence of her characters. Through this process, she combines her love for modeling and the spontaneity of Raku, giving birth to pieces with fascinating colors and textures, reinforced by the random effect of fire and smoke. These creations offer a tactile and organic dimension, works that seem alive and ready to interact with the viewer.
For Natalie, painting is above all a space of freedom. Her technique, often in acrylic to capture the immediacy and intensity of bright colors, is marked by a superposition of layers and meticulous work of pigments. This allows her to give the hues a liveliness and depth that resist time and variations in light, making each work alive and constantly evolving according to the hours of the day. Inspired by pop culture, she infuses a touch of humor into her compositions, with the desire to challenge and transmit joy.
Natalie's series dedicated to the sea is a personal tribute to the aquatic universe, a space of serenity and mystery that she knows well thanks to her passion for freediving. In her paintings, Natalie captures the essence of the sea with a rare sensitivity, playing on variations in light and depths to recreate the tranquility of the seabed. Each painting invites the viewer to dive into a space of absolute calm, where the outside world seems to disappear in favor of a silent and captivating beauty. The series evokes not only Natalie’s fascination with the changing colors of water, but also her need to capture the present moment, that meditative state she experiences when she dives beneath the surface and everything becomes quiet.
During her exhibitions, Natalie creates a truly immersive experience, integrating dance, music, and text readings to offer a multi-sensory approach to her world. Her paintings, which capture the essence of her joyful and bubbly personality, invite viewers to enter a vibrant world of colors and emotions.
Painting is, for Natalie, a moment of introspection, a silent tête-à-tête between her and herself. Through her art, she explores her own limits, constantly seeking to push the boundaries of her creativity, and to invite those who observe her works on a journey where each painting, each sculpture, each creation tells a unique and lively story.
