Discover the contemporary work of Delacité
Born in Saint-Denis in 1967.
I studied visual arts at Paris 1 (Panthéon-
Sorbonne) and obtained a master's degree in 1991.
With Michel Journiac (body art), Côme Mosta Heirt (sculpture, minimalism and concept art) and Michel Salzmann (screen printing) as teachers.
I was then displaying skinned figures under the Pont-Neuf and had an approach close to street art. I acted under the name of MiB, Made in Banlieue, my artist name for interventions in disused premises, or fallow, on the walls of my city. I produced, in parallel with this street-art approach, pictorial works influenced as much by the new figuration and medieval icons as by conceptual art. Which gave the serial painting of the « Combine » on the one hand and the icons on newspaper mounted on canvas « Anastasia » on the other hand. This was followed by a few years of painting around the theme of the origin, directly derived from Gustave COURBET's Origin of the World, but with an interest in man, this was expressed in various forms, including video and installation. A Parisian gallery (ars in fine) then represented my work and a few exhibitions were able to be held there. ; Paris (Et la femme créa l’homme, espace Belleville) and at the Châteauroux museum (George Sand, interpretations) around 2004 with the support of art critic Francis Parent (artension).
At the same time, my professional practice consisted of running a visual arts and dabbling workshop for very young children for 10 years.
The years that followed were marked by abandoning painting and learning photography and digital tools dedicated to still images. Production of some
animal photographs and some "digital paintings".
The structure in which I worked (an awakening garden with some operating principles modeled on the green house of Françoise Dolto) had to close its doors, at the time when I aspired to move towards new graphic horizons... Obtaining a professional baccalaureate in computer graphics in 2007.
These are collective and associative artistic experiences that put me back to the brushes, as well as regular visits to the workshop of a personality, all fueled by collages, work on digital images and frequenting social networks. This is how #marcelledelacité was born in 2019. It is of course a barely disguised tribute to Marcel DUCHAMP, but also a nod to Made in Banlieue which would resume service in a dematerialized way on social networks. His name is written on my recent paintings, on Instagram and the « notebooks dataists », on the guest books of galleries and museums, and on stickers intended for the street.
To summarize my current practice, I create digital drawings, for stickers (street or/and dataism), which are preparatory drawings for my painting. Since the confinement, my pictorial work has focused on the disappearance of animal species, and the indifference that is played out through the play of images to this mass extinction.
Work focused on loss and disappearance.
