Like a visual poem of the existential wanderings of my life, a vision of a world that has hurt me, shaken me, transformed me and shaped me, making the path of life more fruitful every day.
I explore through my technique the life of the world as a virgin territory filled with ghosts in the making connected to space-time. I wander my sensitive and amazed eye of all these retinal residues that I explore in my work, my photos. Here is the vision of my reality
In the tradition of Bernd and Hilla Becher, observers of a world built and abandoned by time-consuming man, I make myself, through my images, a perceiver of urban poetics in all its forms. A frustrating transformation often endowed with nonsense. Infiltrating my work, solitude, isolation give voice to the silence of my wanderings. From these melancholic moments when the landscape of life is transformed, the city, stripping itself of its old finery, reveals its skeleton very quickly covered by a new aesthetic, new urban architecture, another movement or another formal or emotional expression.
I offer to see images that multiply, creating diptychs, triptychs or polyptychs of objects or silhouettes flirting with the immensity of the sky. As in a Japanese print where the sky holds a more important place than any other element. A physical element constituting my images, I tend towards a philosophical capture of the sky in the manner of the great master Hokusai. Modestly, I am inspired by the technique of the great master inventor of manga.
Using the photographic medium, I play with exposure times in order to reveal movement through the duplication of forms, the effect of sliding and repetition. I seek to capture an ephemeral moment, either a very brief natural phenomenon like lightning in his work « The Storm under the Mountaintop», or a human action as in « Ushibori in Hitachi Province”, where the scene is one of perfect tranquility: a single noise and a single movement, that of the man who pours into the marsh the water that must have been used to cook the meal, and by this gesture causes the herons to take flight.
This representation of a snapshot, of a fleeting impression is characteristic of “Ukiyo-e”, an image of a transitory world floating in space and time.
Far from comparing myself to the great master, every day I work intensely in order to capture, at random during my wanderings, the image full of emotion that the city and life can offer me.
