His father, the actor Jean Clarieux, practiced painting as an amateur and gave him his talent. the first rudiments adolescence. After his secondary studies and two presentations at the General Drawing Competition, Gilles Chambon followed an architecture course at the University of Paris. at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris (UP 8 UP6). He taught 2 years in Algeria, and for 25 years abroad. the Bordeaux School of Architecture. As an architect, he created sometimes important projects, such as all the Algiers tram stations (2010). In painting, after having imagined in the 80s-90s fantastic cities to explore watercolor, he turned to painting towards painting oil, reinterpreting in an offbeat way, in a surrealist spirit, the great subjects of classical painting. Since 2014, he has been practicing what he calls synchronistic painting, which consists of a telescoping, in each painting, of fragments borrowed from the history of painting, and reinterpreted. Through this work, he seeks to discover the secret links that connect painters to across space and time. As pop artists have recycled; in their works the dross of society of consumption, G. Chambon recycles the Western pictorial imagination. The millions of works online on the Web thus constitute the rich raw material for his pictorial creations, opposing the the loss of reference points which undermines contemporary visual arts.

Since 2014, Gilles Chambon has been practicing what he calls “synchronistic painting”: an approach which consists of create something new by bringing together, recycling, and transforming fragments borrowed from the history of painting. Synchronicity, a word invented by by C. G. Jung, designates the irrational meaning that sometimes takes on disturbing coincidences, superposition of events without connection between them. By intuitively bringing different artists together, through time and space, and by making their paintings confronted, diverted, and reappropriated, the very material of his new compositions, G. Chambon therefore applies a kind of synchronicity.
By following this path, it aligns with the recycling paradigm dear to us. ecological thinking, without losing one's freedom. and his inventiveness, specific to re-enchant an art world tarnished by conceptualism.
Throughout time, masters have relied on the poetry of their predecessors to create their own poetry. This is what Gilles Chambon is trying to do.
