Discover the contemporary work of Eric DELAHAYE
French painter born in 1973 in Cholet (49).
From a very young age, the artistic environment attracted him. He started his musical career at the age of 9.
A musician and singer for 22 years, it was then pictorial art that he tried by chance to put it on stage.
It was in 2008, after several months of rehearsals and research, alone in his basement then transformed In the Studio, Eric is ready.
He creates his first live portrait on the stage of the Grand Hotel Intercontinental in Paris.
He receives a very warm welcome from the audience present. That evening, he creates a portrait of Edith Piaf, painting with glue and projecting silver glitter to reveal the portrait at the end. (Performance duration: 4'30')
He refines his technique, works long hours in his studio and begins to expand his catalog of celebrity portraits. (M. Monroe, J. Hallyday...)
He stopped all musical activity in 2011 to devote himself fully to live painting.
Constantly seeking recognition, he found it with the public during his live performances.
Eric does not yet consider himself a painter, but his status as a performing painter acquires notoriety and allows him to perform his shows on TV sets, on major French and international stages during prestigious events. (TV France, Italy, Japan, Emirates...)
(Cannes Film Festival, Eiffel Tower, Palais des congrès de Paris, Opera Garnier, Dubai, Finland, China, USA, Greece...)
He honored his first Atelier orders in 2012. He remains in his style, portraits, chiaroscuro, monochrome, glitter painting...
When his schedule allows, he tries his hand at acrylic. He gains confidence, allows himself and tests without forbidding himself.
Paradoxically, his shyness, his lack of confidence and the lack of time, slow him down a lot to create and fully explore the pictorial universe and clearly update his abundant ideas.
Through encounters, exchanges and time, maturity makes its way and Eric lets go. He tests universes, looks for inspiration.
(Profiles of women, abstract, animals, music, other subjects...)
Eric takes part in a few local exhibitions and he finally agrees to let his creativity express itself while continuing live painting.
It was in 2024 that Eric opened up to art fairs and exhibitions in art galleries.
Again everything happened in quick succession, a gallery offered him the chance to exhibit at Brussels for a period of one month.
As if it were obvious, Eric launched himself into the abstract universe, drawing inspiration from J. Pollock (USA) and G. Mathieu (France) among others...
Not forbidding himself anything in terms of creation, he produced in just a few weeks, a dozen works in an almost compulsive and totally intuitive way.
He is therefore today in his contemporary abstract movement, a series of luminous paintings, where the lines dance, stretch, cross... The colors mix in harmony, the curves are full and fine simultaneously. They come to energize and lighten the whole.
We can see reflected futuristic, floating cities, an alchemy of intertwined emotions, sometimes joyful, sad or even obscure...
At the same time a transparency, a lightness, a part of femininity...
Eric wishes to offer his originality while creating for each and every one the birth of emotions, energies and feelings specific to life.
