Born 1974 in Cologne, Germany, studied literature, painting, photography and art design, and now lives and works as a freelance artist in Düsseldorf, Germany and Périgord, France.Works drawn from Nature In my landscapes, the elementary things of Nature encounter each other, entering into communication. It is this communication that we actually perceive when we look at a picture. A picture without communication is a lifeless picture. This perception of the elements happens at two levels: on the visual level and at the emotional level. When we observe what we regard as familiar, we recognise a further, fleeting, dimension; one that quickly vanishes, leaving behind an impression, an emotion. Our soul perceives differently, and our emotions leave behind traces where we least suspect them. They slip into our consciousness and we are startled by our own shadows. My landscapes tread the narrow borderline between these two realities. The menacing and the hopeful are but two sides of the same coin: death and life, homecoming and new beginnings, light and darkness. The landscapes play on our emotions, our experience and our supposed knowledge of what constitutes truth. And so none of the landscapes has a frame confining or constricting it, holding it down: they are and remain fleeting moments – generated from within themselves, born of pure colour.
