Biography Born in Marcilly-sur Eure (France) to a French mother and a Belgian father. French nationality. France and Belgium are the gardens of my childhood Studies: Artistic Baccalaureate in Charleroi - Belgium Evening classes at the Charleroi Academy Graduated from Higher Artistic Education in Brussels. (Graduate in long-type Plastic Arts, painting option) Entrance exam with free subject, I choose my passion of the moment "INGRES" I then discover American painting which will definitively influence my work. Very quickly my painting turns towards the abstract. The nudes are geometricized in black and white (influence of Kline) with a graphic dominance, the color is then non-existent .... ..... I put a parenthesis .... Then regular stays at the Monastery of Aiguebelle (Drome) to rediscover creation, to develop my thinking. I work on the bed or the small table with dry pastels: geometric abstraction and movements, beginning of the approach to color. Burst and movement by graphic jets. Gradually the challenge (overcoming my fear) of color (painting) and gradual abandonment of graphics emerges. (following a musical experience on the colors of Olivier Messian) which will lead me to a freedom both for the support and the color. Use of so-called poor materials magnified by gold, copper. The "square" by its multiplicity is the place proper to multiple experiences inside the canvas. The square also poses the problem of the frame or the chassis that I almost never use, the square is therefore ambiguously "the frame", the spatial place of the painting. My work is for me a field of experiences, discoveries (sometimes playful, sometimes poetic or loaded with an unconscious referring to travel! I attach great importance to the exhibition spaces which are as many fields of investigation, of installation of my work carefully invested in space. "As a painter, I have always been passionate about creativity as a driver of change. For me, creativity goes beyond simple artistic expression; it is a way to solve problems and provoke deep reflection. Each brushstroke is an opportunity to reconsider the world around us, to question established norms and to arouse deep emotions. Through my works, I have sought to bring about change, to respond to needs and to solve problems. Each canvas is an invitation to explore new horizons, to push the limits of conventional thinking to create something unique and meaningful. My commitment to creativity as a force for transformation is reflected in every detail of my creations. By embracing creativity, I have discovered that success as a painter lies not only in artistic recognition, but more importantly in the impact my works can have on those who contemplate them. Each painting is an opportunity to provoke deep reflection, transcend cultural boundaries, and create lasting emotional connections. Through my art, I strive to make a difference in what matters most to me. Each composition is a testament to my love for creativity, for the ability of art to transcend barriers and shape a better world. It is my commitment to making a real difference through the power of creativity. Artistic Approach The Fabric of Dreams: The Art of Transparent Textile Printing on Canvas In the shimmering world of contemporary art, my studio stands out as a place where transparency and color embrace to create captivating works. My technique of printing transparent textile on free canvas is not simply a method, but a bold and innovative artistic statement. Each piece of transparent textile that I select is a fragment of history, a texture that brings new depth to my creations. These fabrics, light and ethereal, are carefully chosen for their ability to interact with liquid paint, creating a visual and tactile symphony. When I start a new work, I delicately place these transparent textiles on the canvas. Then, I apply the paint, quite liquid, which pierces the fabric and creates the desired textures. This process, almost alchemical, transforms the canvas into a landscape of patterns and nuances, where each drop of paint finds its place. Françoise Houze or the art of transparency Françoise Houze is one of those artists for whom practicing their art is imperative, vital: a search, a quest that is never completed but which is their very life… Even in the middle of summer, when her studio is a furnace and the mixtures are drying in the pots, she cannot go there without grabbing a paintbrush, a brush, dipping them in what remains of liquid color to add a tint, a shadow, a depth to the piece of fabric waiting on the large table… And this piece will be placed on another and another and all will soak up, will trace according to their degree of drying to form the finished work. There is no haste in Françoise’s practice, but infinite patience, delicacy, listening to the material, the colours, the shapes that live their own existence that sometimes surprises and even surpasses the artist. The palette shimmers, it is rich, blues, turquoise, violets, purples, gold and silver pigments that bring a precious note, the one that we sometimes notice on old illuminations or icons. But nothing figurative here, touches that seem random, colours, barely suggested volutes that lead the eye towards a clear zone from which light emerges, gently. Until now the shape of the frame, the square or assembled squares was very present in Françoise’s work. This shape could have confined, constrained, but Françoise’s canvases are not nailed to the frames, they are simply suspended on one side and even if the paint stiffens and fixes them, they keep a certain mobility, a curve, a possibility of movement. Thus, they can appear to us as old-fashioned doorways, curtains, veils half-hiding a dreamlike world that becomes terribly desirable. Sliding your gaze to the side, you can thus contemplate the reverse side of the work which is as beautiful as the front! Today, Françoise works from women's clothing, skirts, dresses... Those from the time when, she says with a smile, "she still had a wasp waist". These clothes that every woman has in her wardrobe and we will never part with, even if they no longer fit us, because they were so beautiful, they served us so well, they carry in their folds so many happy moments, so many passions and conquests... Françoise fixes them on the canvas in petticoat silhouettes, as if twirling, or she preserves their shape, their folds, their flounces and stiffens them with resin as if to enclose the ghost of youth that has gently fled. We are thus in the presence of sensitive, carnal, infinitely touching works, especially for women who find in them the expression of a discreet sisterhood. Thus patiently, in the hands of the artist the work continues, all in delicacy. Without haste, through her always in-depth work, Françoise leads us, from layer to layer, from transparency to transparency, towards a deep, feminine universe, marked by great serenity. --- 4. France and Belgium represent the gardens of my childhood, while Egypt was an experience of maturity between 2007 and 2014. My artistic journey is marked by a constant exploration of color and transparency, as well as a personal and nomadic approach. Studies: - Artistic Baccalaureate in Charleroi, Belgium - Evening classes at the Charleroi Academy - Graduate of the Higher Education in Art in Brussels (Graduate in plastic arts, painting option) - Major influence of American painting during my studies, with a particular interest in Ingres and abstraction. --- #### 3. Artistic Approach L'Étoffe des Rêves: My work is based on the use of transparent textiles, which I place on the canvas before applying liquid paint. This technique allows the paint to pierce the fabric, creating rich and dynamic textures. My artistic journey has been marked by regular stays at the Monastery of Aiguebelle (Drôme), where I rediscovered creation. I evolved towards geometric abstraction and color, gradually abandoning graphics to embrace a new freedom. I strive to use a variety of media – papers, textiles prepared by me, wood, silk, cement, plexiglass, plastic – while making my own paints from binders and pigments. My approach favors so-called “poor” materials, magnified by gold and copper. In my work, art is a field of experiments, where each work refers only to itself, without any external message. The “square” is central to my creations, representing a space for experimentation and creative freedom. --- #### 4.
