Discover the contemporary work of Frank Colonier
I am 60 years old. I have been drawing since I was 9 and from the age of 15 I have been painting in the classic way with oil paints. Later I supplemented my skills with ink, watercolor, acrylic, airbrush and now as a new painting technique, drybrush. I usually create my motifs from templates or photos. My favorite motifs are those from Roman antiquity, i.e. Roman ruins after Guiseppe Battista Piranesi. I use my own method for this, ink and watercolor. Works by Zocchi and Vanvitelli are also among my great role models. I have also done illusion painting. In addition to animal and human portraits, I like to paint and draw motifs from science fiction and fantasy.
