Discover the contemporary work of GéHerd
Having started through the practice of photography, before becoming a self-taught plastic painter, in my work as with others, the realization, the work in itself is not, just like the emerging part of the iceberg, only the visible part of my creativity. The essential part being the set of conscious and unconscious elements, the experience and the personality of the person. of the artist which led to the idea, the concept, submitted by the work to the gaze of the public.
However, As the question asks me to define my approach, it is very difficult for me to answer. Perhaps I don't have enough perspective on my artistic work or quite simply because the unconscious part of my creativity is lost. is more important than the conscious part thus joining " the concept of the unconscious as a source of Art .
Personally, I do not want to analyze my approach in depth for fear of losing a certain spontaneity. (even if this does not necessarily show through in my creations), or even the unconscious part of my creativity. by confining my artistic work to too rigid rules. If I had to despite this To define my approach, I would qualify as an explorer of Abstraction.
As far as I'm concerned, I think that the important thing in a work, and in Art in general, is to feel and make people feel emotions, to be challenged by others. the aesthetic senses of the people who will look at it, even if they are not necessarily those that the artist wanted to convey.
To conclude, working in the field of non-representation, I would endorse the answer that Pierre SOULAGES gives when asked the question: « What did you want to represent? and who is: « I don’t depict, I paint ! ».
