My name is Greta M. Margherita Montalbano. Franco-Italian, I am attached to two cities: Paris and Rome, and I currently live in Paris. I traveled a lot as a child, between Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Paris and Rome. I am a mother, a sister, a human artist. I worked in luxury for several years and decided to make a professional reconversion a reality in 2023. I trained with intensive courses at the Estienne school, in NABA at the Beaux Arts in Paris, with the artist Maryline Genest (Professor at the Beaux Arts and in preparatory art schools) and in screen printing I have been for two years with the artist Sandrine Bridier at the Atelier des 4 Jeudis. I am an artistic speaker and lead art workshops with Lasko in Paris. I have been a member of the CAE Clara Bis since 2024.
Emotional landscapes, awakened beauties,
to share with you in a common language.
My art is for me a form of narration. After studying literature and languages at the University of Rome and winning several literary prizes in Italy, I published my first book in Rome before turning to inks and painting. I have been painting for as long as I can remember, long before I could walk or talk. Art is for me a universal language. In each of us, there are stories, secrets, colors and music never heard before. To those who wish to open up to this language, be at home here.
I use different techniques, from inks to acrylics, from copperplate engraving to screen printing.
On screen prints: designed for decoration, figurative or abstract, my approach is in the creation of soothing colors, a tribute to moments.
On cities, skylines and informal works of art
I spent most of my childhood traveling abroad: from Hong Kong to Los Angeles, via Paris... From these immense cities that I have crossed, I wanted to “fix” what I felt there on canvas, by exploring the landscapes of human life. As a child traveler, I felt at home everywhere or totally without roots. My paintings are thus conceived as an experience shared with those who will approach it, a path where fragments of color are revealed, giving life to living memories. Thanks to the special supports I use, these works interact with light in multiple ways.
For my paintings, I work mainly on urban skylines in mixed media, often using recycled materials, metals and textures that I fuse with acrylic. I come from a traditional illustration background. Some of the works presented on the home page are now in private collections, from Baltimore in the United States to Germany, France and Italy. I would like to warmly thank the collectors for their permission to share these images, thus allowing my works to continue to travel the world.
Life is amazing. Like time, clouds or the light of raindrops, it never repeats itself. I look for those magical moments in my fight against time, induced by people or places, which offer a different perception of what surrounds us... a unique charm that cannot be reproduced elsewhere. And I try to capture it, to show it to you, wherever you are... it's my way of making it... and making us... Eternal, in a certain way.
