At the beginning, there was cinema, the image that moves and the words that we say (cinema license in St Denis). There was also writing and photography. Cinema being at the heart of the confluence of these two mediums. Painting only came later, slowly, alone. The trigger came through the use of porcelain paints, which came into my hands by chance, on simple white ceramic tiles. Brilliant colors, fluidity, transparency and unparalleled light, brushwork somewhat comparable to that of a painter. the one that can be achieved at home. watercolor, modular formats to suit your needs. infinity...

Then, we had to dare to use more classic techniques, painting with a brush. oil or acrylic, painting on canvas, and even painting large, why not? Look for materials, reliefs, test painting with a knife or with your fingers, try the confusion/superposition between photography and painting, between writing and painting.

But whatever the technique used, the themes remain the same: indistinct, unreal, lost characters, sometimes made up, often alone; invented landscapes, trees without foliage, misty deserts, imaginary cities, soaring, unsettled, horizons of illusion; abstracts with swirling colors, dizzying surges and, sometimes, soothing voids.

There is no technique that is better than another. Neither major art nor minor art. Painting, writing, photography, everything should be attempted. to give existence to the ghosts that haunt us, to the lost places of our imagination. All paintings are signed HZEN on the front, countersigned, dated and titled on the back. The photos are signed and numbered.
