Discover the contemporary work of HelenGi
After studying piano, singing and opera at the Luxembourg Conservatory, Hélène Rivière sang in opera, as an opera artist for many years, in France, but also abroad in the great German and Italian repertoire. At the same time, she studied art history in Nancy and continued to study painting and sculpture as an autodidact.
Passionate about theater, she has staged and prepared the scenography of Carmencita (2008) a major project revisited from the well-known work of Carmen, bringing together 4 choirs and an orchestra and supported by the General Council of Vosges. She also prepared the stage and vocal technique of the soloists.
In 2009, she created the sets, costumes and staging of L'Auberge du Cheval Blanc, whose story she rewrote, based on the singers she had available.
Her motto: Art must provoke emotion, reflection and pleasure for the eyes!
Oil painting - her favorite medium - allows her to exalt the colors and shapes of dreamlike imaginary worlds. Through the play of glazes and scraping, HelenGi seeks above all a sensory aesthetic and sculpts the canvas to reveal light and transparency. The very classic themes (landscapes, seascapes, portraits) have given way to abstract, contemplative works, in which the viewer's gaze can wander and immerse itself in a new introspective dimension. HelenGi's painting invites us to connect to one's own space of dream and introspection.
HelenGi's sculptures combine power and flexibility, drawing their lines of force from the source of primitive arts and ancient statuary. Here, the body is human and hybrid. HelenGi invents a new form of face. Her sculptures plunge into glass in a refined aesthetic and invite us to reflect on their symbolic interpretation and on the concept of physical identity.
