Discover the contemporary work of Helenise

Since I was young, I have always loved drawing and using colored pencils. In 2000, I started taking oil painting classes in Brazil, with visual artists from my region. After a ten-year break, I resumed my painting and drawing classes when I arrived in France in 2015.

I am passionate about landscapes and urban landscapes that I reproduce from photos in my creations. My style is constantly evolving over the years and I am always looking for new subjects to explore. I found my first sources of inspiration in the city of Ouro Preto in Brazil.

When I started painting, I was influenced by Willian Turner's landscape paintings and lights.

In France, I had the chance to learn several techniques, mostly oil, with artists who influenced me during the leisure course at the Terre & Feu workshop in Lille, which really allowed me to develop my technique and style.

At first, I was looking for realism in my paintings, but over time, I naturally moved towards a more personal representation with less detail. This evolution of style is reflected in my current creations.

I try to capture the essence of the cities I know well, and make the viewer want to walk around and feel drawn to these places rich in details. I like to work with long and fluid lines that are often reinforced with a knife by material effects to create unique and captivating works of art.
