Discover the contemporary work of Hersen Rivé
Hersen Rivé is passionate about Afro jazz and rock. Music gave him the raw material to develop his imagination from a young age, and he picked up pens and brushes. He tirelessly drew Art Brut at night, interlacing typography and mysterious faces.
. His world is also inspired by his learning of Arabic and its calligraphy, and the city of Tangiers inspires him with its casbahs and bohemian ghosts.
In Cotonou, he co-created the group BIM (Benin International Musical), which has enjoyed resounding success, having played at Carnegie Hall in New York, Paris, Manchester, Liverpool, Berlin, Oslo, Budapest, Switzerland, Essoura etc.. The divine representations of voodoo inspire his work and permeate his universe and denounce its misappropriation by the colonists who turned it into witchcraft radically opposed to the cult.
Hersen rive has been exhibited in Paris, Brussels and at the Outside Art Fair in New York in 2022.
