Discover the contemporary work of Horia Pop
Born in Romania in 1984. Author-Director-Photographer. Publications of writings - poems, short stories - and photographs - portraits, objects - in multiple American magazines.
My Eastern European roots, and my Western education, have torn me apart and thus allowed - in spite of myself - to always be "double" in my artistic approach. I like the mixture of sacred and profane. I like strong contrasts. I like artists without fuss. I like the artist who doesn't show himself, but shows the other.

In my photographs, I use black and white 99% because it allows me to leave in the shadows what does not interest me. To get very close to asceticism, and even closer to the strange strangeness of our world.
When it comes to portraits, my approach always consists of telling their hidden story, their background. "Form is the substance that rises to the surface" (Victor Hugo). This is what I try to achieve with those who have been willing to give me their trust and give themselves to my eyes and my heart.
