Born in 1958, Patrick Bergès is a teacher who is now retired. A comic strip enthusiast, he draws inspiration from the technique of the "Belgian school" (known as the "clear line". His paintings depict a colorful universe inspired by the Mediterranean, in which faceless characters travel aboard Fiat "cinquecento" cars in an urban environment where buildings and monuments sway under skies with improbable colors... PB twice won first prize for painting, in the "acrylic" category, at the "Montmartre in Clisson" festival. (June 2007 and 2010) and won first prize in all categories from the jury of the same festival in June 2012. His work is also included in volumes VIII and IX of the \"International Contemporary artists art book\" (New York, USA). He exhibited at the \"Colorida art gallery\" (Lisbon-Portugal) between November 2014 and January 2015. Regularly, the bimonthly magazine \"Art and Beyond\" (Magazine on line-USA) devotes a page to PB's paintings (see issue March-April 2016, p 35). Since 2015, PB has also participated in selected in different international painting festivals (Palermo 2014, Berlin 2016, Milan 2017, Luxembourg art prize 2020) Born in 1958, Patrick Bergès gives life to a naive and colorful world. Wide colored tint areas painted with raw acrylic paint are juxtaposing; shadows and volumes are suggested thanks to a black line in the style of the \"light line\"(inspired by the comic strip Belgian school).Stoned houses, closed shutters, hanging clothes floating in the wind and ... \"cinquecento\" Fiat alludes to the Mediterranean atmosphere well-known from Corsica to Italy and from Spain to the French Riviera, even if other inspiring influences such as Brittany also contribute to his work. My paintings are inspired by the world of comics with the technique of the Belgian school called "the clear line". The black line applied with a fine brush delimits the volumes, shadows and contours, thus bringing out the areas of raw acrylic color.
