Discover the contemporary work of Iris Maryse Stoecklin
I dedicate my art to nature, the environment and the diversity of cultures around the world.
Long sensitized by the deforestation of the Amazon and the fate of the Amerindian peoples,
I paint the peoples of the forest and all the magic of their body paintings; acrylic portraits with feather inlays
and textile and plant materials. In my Vegetal series, I sketch tree shapes on canvases of
large formats that I decorate with threads and fibers as if repairing the damage caused to nature.
I also create murals and trompe l'oeil.
After obtaining a National Diploma in Plant Decoration at the Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Nice in 1971
I teach Plastic Arts in colleges. At the same time, I create illustrations for children's magazines.
I went to live in Brazil between 1975 and 1981 and I became passionate about the culture of the Amazonian Indians. I discover their fate within the reserves.
These themes are at the heart of my artistic approach.
I made a mini-report for Jeunes Années Magazine on a young Indian woman from the Kamaiura tribe.
Back in Ferance, I studied trompe l'oeil techniques. In 2000, I made a trompe l'oeil on a 150m2 blank wall,
a trompe l'oeil for the Maison Albert Londres in Vichy in 2008. I made in 2022 a mural on a 100m2 wall
for the town of Ris in Auvergne and painted decorations for individuals.
