Discover the contemporary work of JBLZParis
Joël Balézeau, alias JB or JBLZ, is a multidisciplinary artist born in the East of France in Belfort in. He lived in Strasbourg for many years, where he took his first drawing and oil painting lessons and participated in several private exhibitions. His works are then distributed mainly in Europe.
In 2020, he moved to Puteaux, where he discovered a passion for sculpture in the city's workshops.
He worked using ancestral techniques, in direct plaster or clay modeling at first, the clay models were molded in plaster, with lost hollow, faithful to the techniques of the most illustrious sculptors with great humility before his major inspirations, Bourdelle, Rodin, Camille Claudel for his extraordinary sensitivity, but also Dalí or more recently Charbonnel whose work on the human body is very modern..
However, he became familiar with with more recent materials such as silicone or resin which allow new shapes and effects, and facilitate the molding traditionally made with plaster. He therefore sometimes produces very small numbered series thanks to these current techniques, while preserving the unique character of his pieces thanks to the long work of finishing customizations on orders, or repentance, and patinas which go from marble to bronze via lacquer or gilding with gold leaf.
His main interests in painting are focused on working with textures and contrasts of bright colors, in abstract or expressionist compositions, and in sculpture eclecticism is essential with a prediction for the Art Deco period and pure, simple, stylized lines, but without neglecting ancient inspirations which remain absolute references in the representation of human and animal bodies.
