Description of my approach and artistic approach
« I strive to adopt a gestural and spontaneous approach while maintaining a thoughtful organization of colors and shapes.
As long as one is receptive to it, abstract expressionism can take you into the most intimate corners of your individuality. But for that, one must have the ability to let go, to abandon oneself, to surrender to the world of the sensitive. Emotion constantly takes over. It leads you to transcend you.
I attach particular importance to the composition, to the sound of the colors.
When I paint, I rely on an instinctive approach allowing each painting to express feelings or abstract ideas without barriers of form.
Observation must be able to lead to concentrating on the visual and emotional impact to bring the viewer to rediscover his ability to »êver »
What are my main sources of inspiration?
« I practice abstract painting. I fully associate myself with the abstract expressionist movement that emerged after the war in the United States with its precursors Jackson Pollock, Cy Twombly, Willem de Kooning, Joan Michell, Kline and in Europe with lyrical abstraction with Georges Mathieu in France, Tapies in Spain ...
Inspiration is for me essentially dependent on the mental or emotional state in which I find myself at the moment I want to work. Of course, the environment in which I paint also influences my work, since I am often abroad."
The common denominator in all my work is that the creative process only begins when I am in a state of total joy and well-being. Nothing should interfere with my mind. I am unable to paint in moments of sadness or unease.
Inspiration comes by itself when these criteria are present.
What are the themes or questions addressed in my work?
“ I don't have any particular theme in the literal sense of the word.
A choice of color to start, one or two instinctive gestures and the creative process takes shape.
The fundamental basis of abstraction is to express oneself in the impulse of his feelings and feelings of the moment using colors and shapes. Color being one of the essential elements to express his ideas and emotions »
Description of my creative process: how do you go from the idea to the final work?
“Abstract research comes from everyday life and the emotions of the moment.
Like many artists, there is a random, alchemical side that totally escapes me in creation. Energy and enthusiasm often run out of steam. We are disoriented, lost, discouraged. And then the accident often comes to restart the machine. At the end of this commitment which can take the form of a real fight, I hope to arrive at a harmony, like a musical composition where all nuances and all rhythms are permitted. The process of destruction-reconstruction leading not to a desired result, but rather to a desired emotion and finally revealed. Once I decide it is time to stop intervening I try to distance myself and I can't help but think that it is all just a coincidence »
