“You can paint with whatever you want, with pipes, postage stamps, postcards or playing cards, candelabras, pieces of oilcloth, false collars, paper, newspapers” wrote Apollinaire in his work “The Cubist Painters” in 1913.
Since then, we have known that painting is also the poetry of bricolage and I take responsibility for this heritage; the painting, starting from its material constituents which are the canvas, the frame, the frame, explores the pictorial surface, and can also be deployed in bas-relief by the addition of objects, of various materials: it is then that Apollinaire's inventory comes into play: objects from our daily lives thus find themselves "trapped" in the pigmentary material, which immediately rushes to integrate these "intruders" into the space of the pictorial field that recreates the fiction of an image with narrative content.
In another series, the paint has completely disappeared, replaced by the futility of an everyday object like the Spontex sponge that this time occupies all the space of the painting, to recreate Monet; or even the Chatterton adhesive tape that puts its most restricted palette to the test to mimic Fauvism.
