Discover the contemporary work of Jean Noelmartin
A physicist for many years, I retrained as a painter. My studio is called "La Grange du Vénéon". It is in the Oisans region, which allows me to paint mountains that are exceptional in their strength and beauty! As well as the habitats and inhabitants of this beautiful region, a source of infinite inspiration!
The basics of elementary physics (and maths) allowed me to progress quickly in pictorial technique. Geometry explains perspective! The spectral analysis of light and its wavelengths leads us to color and their intensity, values in painting! Mechanics teaches us to see the movement of the human being, of water, etc.
I therefore enjoy quoting the great Leonardo da Vinci: “Principles for the development of the mind: study the science of art, study the art of science. Develop your senses, in particular, learn to see.”
I paint in a fairly classic way, with acrylic and oil, between figurative and contemporary, I like to mark the contours, and force the colors. I thus integrate the school of creativity.
Currently I make paintings on the mountains, the habitat and the inhabitants of Oisans. My artistic process is changing, does my work make sense? Does it need it? It's up to you to see!
As a physicist I will quote Albert Einstein: "Imagination is more important than knowledge."
