Jesús ECHEVARRIA (1916-2009) born in Baranbio (Alava–Spain). Marked by: his cultural childhood, his Basque nationalist fight during the Spanish Civil War, prisoner under Franco, his meeting with his wife Maialen Gastigard, there he began sculpture, Romanesque Art, Egyptian Statuary, Giacometti, Brancusi, Sthaly.
Self-taught, far from the great movements, trends, fashions, he has covered the great stages of sculpture, from imagery to abstraction, from matter to the immaterial.
