Jo-LNA, based in Lyon.
I paint mainly in watercolor and work on details with felt-tip pens/markers.
I find my inspiration in what I'm passionate about and what moves me, whether it's through my emotions, music, or the cultures of this world.
I also give importance to the representation of women, in all their diversity. My works oscillate between travel and reveries, cosmic and plant atmospheres.
I'm not attached to labels; I'm self-taught and outside the art world.
"- So you reinvented everything?"
- Yes, but anyone can invent. It's not a specialty of mine.
Violet Parra, Chilean singer and artist.
The Latin American artistic universe of the 19th and 20th centuries is an important element of my identity and by extension in my relationship with art. With artists like Elena Izcue, Frida Kahlo, Violeta Parra. The Mexican and Chilean muralist movements such as Diego Rivera, José Venturelli, or the Ramona Parra Brigade. With a desire to through their works, to deconstruct society, particularly on issues arising from neocolonialism.
A cultural heritage that plays an important role in the symbolism of some of my works. Both in the translation of my relationship to the representation of "Latin American identity," the fruit of different intertwining processes of "transculturation." It is also important in my relationship to the world and my particular interest in foreign cultures and indigenous peoples from other continents, which I also seek to promote. through my paintings.
Another element that stems from this neo-colonial and "Western-centric" deconstruction is the transcription of symbols and/or narratives from different non-Western cosmologies. Primarily Mapuche, Buddhist, and Hindu.
Finally, I also leave room for a less intellectualized and intellectualizable side. Through paintings in which I attempt to convey my emotions and my interiority.
