Discover the contemporary work of Juancaabstracto
I am an industrial designer with an artistic and graphic background. Going through the academicism of my training, I have launched myself into in-situ drawing and the spontaneity that it allows and requires. After living in my native Colombia, moving to the old continent has allowed me to combine my tropical vision with the vast Spanish artistic heritage.
In my career, I have found natural light the greatest source of inspiration for my drawings. My volumetric compositions using flat colors and well-marked contours are inspired by Cloisism developed by Bernard and brought to general knowledge by Gauguin and van Gogh. I feel influenced by the approach to color of post-impressionist artists and the loose lines of expressionism, roots of contemporary art and my own work. I am particularly attracted to urban landscapes and object still lifes thanks to my training as a designer. The amalgamation of nature and human artifice is my favorite theme and I think of it as a benevolent Frankenstein monster that we inhabit in our daily lives.
