Discover the contemporary work of Juyalouisa
A multidisciplinary artist, I have navigated through different practices and operating modes since 2009 (date of obtaining my BTS in visual communication, publishing option, at LISAA NANTES).
I was first a freelance graphic designer for 10 years, then experimented with screen printing, then scenography in different environments and collective projects.
During the confinement period I moved towards a more personal practice of my creations and worked mainly with painting on canvas, volume and textiles.
Since 2022 I have had several solo exhibitions and in the spring I self-published a book.
As well as several projects in artistic direction.
I would like to continue and develop my practice within the framework of workshops to share my know-how. (mainly volume and textile).
JUYA LOUISA The starting point of her work is an obsessive quest for images and objects imbued with popular culture from the 80s to today, art brut, the world of the night, tarot, partying, love, icons, the absurd, drunkenness, temples and many other wonders... which she collects to the point of saturation. From this visual accumulation emerges an eccentric, almost psychedelic universe. She interweaves a counterculture aesthetic and new realism, playing with folklore, contemporary mythology, esotericism and dreaminess, all always with a lot of self-mockery. Her creations, however, speak only of love, the kind we expect, the kind that drives us crazy, the kind that brings us alive with passion and sadness. She works in painting, drawing, screen printing, textiles or volumes, papier-mâché, polystyrene and plaster.
