Of nationality Belgian, I have lived in the Pyrenees Orientales since I was 16. In 1977, I joined at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Perpignan for 5 years in the graphic arts-illustration section. During my life, I have had to work in the graphic arts-illustration section. abandon the artistic field to have other professional experiences (management of a craft business, jobs in sales then in the medico-social sector). During these periods, I continued to work. à practice art through watercolor illustrations, graphic creations for myself or those around me.
In 2006, I enrolled in the mosaic classes offered by Beatriz Frazao. I knew from then on that this would be my main channel of expression. I have since explored new materials, new techniques, a new style. Quickly, the desire to integrate tesserae of various materials into driftwood or old wood led to this. my work. Whether it is wood collected on the beaches or reclaimed wood (boat hulls, barrel staves, etc.), these reveal their past to us. "life" by the marks they reveal.
In 2021, it is time for me to reconnect with what has always motivated me: artistic expression, which helps me to achieve my goals. share my sensitivity and the values that are important to you my eyes. I decide to make it my main profession.
Recovering, recycling, valorizing have always been a priority. This is obvious to me, even on a daily basis and in the layout of my house. I always thought second hand, initially out of necessity, then out of conviction. Consequently, the recovery of “waste or scrap” materials in my creations corresponds to what has always made up my personality, reusing and arranging them are the basis of my thinking.
My approach consists of: transform driftwood and old wood, inserting various organic, mineral or other materials such as glass paste to enhance them.
I simply let myself be inspired by their shape as well as by the landscapes and colors of the Mediterranean. And the contrast or harmony (depending on the material) given to my work. seen through the insertion of colored glass, old crockery or natural elements such as stone or shells, form with wood a unique piece that tells another story. p>
