My artistic work began with painting, photography and the skill of goldsmithing. For over thirty years I have been mainly involved in sculpture. After working with soapstone and aerated concrete, I have now dedicated myself to found wood.
I have also been painting again since 2010. Abstracts and landscapes.
Topic: Found wood
The unusually shaped and sometimes very bizarre pieces of found wood tell me endless stories and let me dream, marvel and let my imagination run wild. It is these special pieces of wood that I free from forest vegetation (be it moss, weeds, old bark and the like) and work on them layer by layer, becoming ever more fine. Through this work, the found wood gains a second, visible life. The elaborately worked surfaces then invite you to stroke and touch them.
If you take a closer look at the objects that have been created, you will discover little stories that the wood can tell: here, years ago, a branch began, a new path, there two arms had embraced each other for eternity. Faces appear, figures emerge and one often thinks one has discovered something animal. Grains show us how eventful the life of this particular tree was.
These works from nature are a homage to nature out of love for nature.
