Né in central France,Lawrence studied at Paris (University of Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne) and the workshops of the city of Paris (Drawing: Ateliers Joël Trolliet and Olivier Di Pizzio, Painting: Atelier Gonzalo Belmonte, Ecole de la Glaciere ). Teacher-trainer (INSPE - Université Picardie Jules Verne) for more than 20 years, he lives and works at the university. next to it from Beauvais (Oise - 60).
Since 2019, he has been exploring the traces, the remains, of what remains of the world. painting and drawing as a legitimate practice confronted with digital technology, and now AI. Question of memory, question of forgetting, question of what (we) have left.
Lawrence draws and paints with the gestures of of subtractions current which forge the technique of his images (charcoal, oil pastel, chalk, ink, graphite, oils) where hybridizes thesurfacesand the shapes of his subjects with neglected and insignificant but emblematic motifs of our everyday life. ifying (banana or avocado skins, cherry pits and stems, deliquescent squash, cores, or even the body of a mythical woman, heads of discriminated people, etc., ...).
