I create by instinct, sometimes dreamed, by will to give strength to the invisible
Simplified, sober, austere, on the point of vanishing, monuments of smoke where when power results from an economy of means and matter.
I oscillate between the witchcraft of archaic possession rites, mortuary casting and poetry that manages to purify them, transcend them.
This vapor, this absence, this frightening emptiness, the tension they generate.
It is there, because there is something to sublimate.
These faces, these features, these curves, all these layers, these lines that intersect, overlap, like so many intertwined bodies, it is an abundance of diffuse feelings.
My first Love is Wood Sculpture, the balance of power between me and the latter is a dizzying feeling and above all an extraordinary outlet that fits perfectly into my creative logic.
Destroy to Love and Be Reborn.
Now, you see me forging and striking with all my strength on an invisible anvil with a gauze hammer. Where I wanted to chisel, cut, knead, I apply a nurse's lint; where I hurt, I bandage.
I want to give form to the feelings and character traits that inhabit each of us...
LeDav was born from my passion for art and nature, two elements that have always occupied a central place in my life. Since my childhood in the Val de Marne then in Seine et Marne
I have always been fascinated by the ability of art to communicate emotions and transform our perception of the world. My works, whether sculptures, acrylic paintings or plant fiber creations, are a reflection of this passion. Each piece is carefully and thoughtfully crafted, blending traditional techniques with modern innovations to create something truly unique. I love to explore textures and shapes, often introducing organic elements into my works that evoke the beauty and complexity of nature. With years of expertise and an authentic artistic approach, I strive to create works that captivate and inspire.
My artistic approach revolves around the exploration of the human, through portraits and representations of the body, which I make appear on abstract backgrounds. Each work is an attempt to evoke the depth of human emotions and experiences, through an approach that is both intuitive and tactile.
I began my career by sculpting wood, initially focusing on raw and organic materials. Later, I expanded my practice by working with textile fibers to create faces. These textile sculptures have become a way for me to explore the fragility and sensitivity of the human face, while playing with textures and three-dimensionality.
In painting, my process is marked by the absence of strict control: I create abstract acrylic backgrounds, where faces and bodies emerge almost accidentally, as if the image revealed itself through my spontaneous gestures. This intuitive method allows faces to appear in unpredictable ways, perhaps symbolizing the way human emotions arise in our lives.
Over time, I have combined these two techniques – painting and sculpture – by integrating my textile sculptures into my canvases, enhancing them with acrylic to create three-dimensional works. This gives a new dimension to my creations, making the portraits even more present and palpable, as if they were literally coming out of the canvas to address the viewer.
I also work with plaster and acrylic to create paintings that combine texture and color, further reinforcing this effect of relief and interaction between the material and the image. My goal is for each work to transport the observer, push him to feel strong emotions and to questioning one's own human experiences.
My inspiration comes mainly from my own life, from the emotions I have experienced, and from artists who have captured the depth of the human soul, such as Rodin, Camille Claudel or Willem de Kooning. Their ability to combine strength and delicacy deeply influences my own approach, which always seeks to make tangible what is often impalpable: emotions, memories, and the complexity of the human being.
