Discover the contemporary work of Les 7 lieux
The 7 places stems from the artistic and personal journey of the artist Samy Dion.
While working as a graphic designer for various companies, he practices drawing, which he has been learning since childhood as an amateur, then gradually on professional projects, whether through illustration or storyboarding. He lets the call of adventure and travel guide him and sets sail for Italy, Japan, England, then Vietnam, where he sets out to settle, meets people and lets his imagination wander.
At Paris, and in other cities in France, it is with street art and his friends gathered in the form of the CAMEO collective that he shares a wealth of popular references from cinema, television, literature, video games and of course comics, and that he will gradually find his way. A path that will result in more ambitious graphic projects, a freer line and a theme focused on the city and its abundance, but always with a light, poetic and humorous tone.
This wind finally guided him to La Rochelle, where He started his own business as an independent under the name "Les 7 lieux", which focuses on creating city maps in a cavalier perspective and through a graphic style close to comics, and other personal works.
Why the 7 places? It is a thinly veiled allusion to Perrault's well-known tale "The Seven League Boots", and its imagination. While suggesting the possibility of gaining height and discovering familiar urban spaces from the clouds, to better savor their amusing details and singularities.
