With a background in Applied Arts, I define myself as a visual storyteller. I bring to life strange little creatures of varying detail and expressiveness. A lover of the wind and light of the south, I love silence when I create. I draw my inspiration from life, emotions, and objects that have a soul. I love warm colors, the Rococo style, beautiful papers, the smell of ink, the architecture of typographic characters, and old books.
Women, men, or transgender, my creatures have a character as intriguing as it is endearing. My work revolves around the juxtaposition of poetry and satire to deploy a personal perspective on universal themes such as human nature and the structures of society. With sensitivity, I approach these profound subjects through compositions that I often discover over the course of their creation. When I begin a work, it is rare that I am not overwhelmed by an emotion or a subject that I owe to express at all costs to free myself (current events, events, people, emotions, illness, etc.). I know what I want to talk about but I don't yet know the final composition. I then enter into a visual game with my medium. This letting go is a real joy that allows me to stretch the meaning of the image and also experience it. Melancholy and a certain strangeness emerge from my work.
