Louise de Gastines, a French sculptor, shapes clay to give life to unique works that combine strength and sensitivity.

Since the 2000s, she has perfected her art by exploring various techniques, nourished by encounters with artists such as Kuntzel and Deygas or Niki de Saint Phalle. Her time in a model-making and prototyping workshop allowed her to refine her mastery of volumes, textures and colours, before she joined the Industrial Design section of the Greta de la Création, du Design et Métiers d’Art in Paris.

Self-taught and passionate, she turned to clay sculpture, a medium that requires as much rigour as intuition. In her workshop in the heart of nature, she imagines, models, enamels and fires her creations, playing with the contrast between raw clay and vitrified enamels.

Inspired by the human body, surrealism and mythology, her sculptures, both intriguing and expressive, question our perception of reality and invite poetic reflection on matter and form.

She shapes her works directly from the base, combining rigor and spontaneity. The precise modeling and careful polishing reveal a sublimated raw material, contrasting with the luminous intensity of the vitreous enamels. This play of textures, between smooth and raw surfaces, creates a striking dialogue between strength and delicacy.

Each sculpture, perceived from different angles, invites reflection on the balance between minimalism and expressiveness.
